Exciting Summer Job Opportunity: Become a Tourism Ambassador with SDG Counties!

This position offers invaluable field experience as an SDG Tourism Ambassador, allowing you to engage directly with visitors on our active recreation trails and at community events. You’ll be responsible for guiding tours of the Historic SDG Jail, creating engaging social media content, and promoting local tourism assets. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop communication, marketing, and customer service skills while exploring the beautiful SDG region!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors, answer inquiries, and provide tourism information.
  • Patrol the waterfront trail or attend special events (occasionally via bicycle).
  • Create engaging content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
  • Write blogs and update the regional tourism website: whereontariobegan.ca.
  • Lead guided tours of the Historic SDG Jail, ensuring an engaging and memorable visitor experience.
  • Assist with special events at the Historic SDG Jail.
  • Provide general upkeep of the jail and promotional materials.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time post-secondary student returning in the fall.
  • Possess a G Ontario Driver’s Licence.
  • Bilingualism (English & French) is considered an asset.
  • Access to a vehicle with the ability to transport a bike and equipment is an asset (mileage reimbursed).
  • A driver’s abstract indicating a clean driving record is required before employment begins.

Work Conditions & Safety Training:

  • Outdoor work with exposure to natural elements and physical exertion.
  • Travel across various terrains with potential interactions with the public and motorists.
  • Safety training provided, including equipment maintenance and PPE usage.
