Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary
Families looking for outdoor fun and hands-on activities won’t want to miss the exciting March Break programming at the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary. From March 16–20, the sanctuary is hosting a full week of free, family-friendly activities designed to get kids learning, creating, and exploring nature.
Each afternoon from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, children can participate in a different themed activity. The week kicks off on Monday with a Dog Sled Demonstration, offering a unique chance to see this exciting winter tradition up close. On Tuesday, kids can get creative with Easter Crafts, followed by an adventurous GPS Treasure Hunt on Wednesday. Thursday brings a fun sewing craft activity, and the week wraps up on Friday with a Trail Scavenger Hunt, encouraging families to explore the sanctuary’s beautiful natural surroundings.
With engaging activities, fresh winter air, and plenty of space to explore, it’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon during March Break—and best of all, every activity is completely free.
Explore Nature at Cooper Marsh this March Break
Families looking to mix learning with outdoor adventure can head to Cooper Marsh Conservation Area this March Break. The Raisin Region Conservation Authority and the River Institute are once again partnering to host free, drop-in workshops on March 17 and 18 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Cooper Marsh Visitors Centre.
These family-friendly sessions feature hands-on activities focused on seasonal ecology. Kids and their parents can enjoy guided outdoor explorations, wildlife tracking, birdwatching, winter tree identification, and interactive science experiments inside the visitor centre.
Located along the scenic St. Lawrence River, Cooper Marsh is a provincially significant coastal wetland and a perfect place for families to discover nature together while enjoying some fresh air during March Break.
Discover Science & Nature at the Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre
Families looking for fun, interactive learning during March Break should add the Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre to their list. Hosted by Ontario Power Generation, the centre offers a week of free educational programming designed to inspire curiosity about science, nature, and the environment.
Throughout the week, kids can take part in hands-on workshops, science demonstrations, wildlife encounters, and outdoor learning activities led by community partners and educators. From exploring biodiversity and building electrical circuits to discovering wildlife and environmental science, there are plenty of opportunities for young learners to get involved.
Located along the St. Lawrence River, the visitor centre is also a fascinating attraction on its own, featuring interactive exhibits that highlight the history of the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project and the natural environment of the region.
