SEEKING GREATER KINGSTON AREA PROPERTIES
Salvage Kings is an exciting series that follows Ted Finch and his salvage team as they try to save as much salvage as they can from properties that are past their prime. Exploring and revealing the history of each community and property they visit is a key component of the series. Ted and his team are seeking properties in the Greater Kingston Area to salvage – enabling Salvage Kings to share the stories of these buildings and communities with our Canadian and international audiences.
POTENTIAL PROPERTIES
The ideal properties for Ted are vacant and full of items! Architectural salvage is welcomed too.
Examples include:
• Estate sales
• Industrial buildings connected to the Greater Kingston Area’s past
• Former music venues or cultural hubs
• Properties that have been issued clean-up orders by the city
• Former businesses or homes that played a significant role in the region’s history
• Any other interesting vacant building!
To determine whether a property would be a good fit, please provide the following:
• property address and description
• photos of interior and exterior that show potential salvage
If Ted is interested in pursuing the property, we would set up a scout visit. Once we complete the scout and interest is confirmed, an agreement would be reached with the owner to grant access to the salvage. Compensation is negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
FILMING PROCESS
Filming Salvage Kings is a run-and-gun operation – our small crew of up to 6 is highly mobile and no major setups are required. The crew will follow Ted & his team of 2 or 3 as they salvage as much as they possibly can from each property we connect with.
The amount of time we film depends upon the volume of salvage and size of the property. For smaller properties, we would film one or two days. For larger properties, we would film up to 5 days.
